As you would expect, an abundance of wild mustang grapes in the local area saw “Grape Vine” named in 1854 after the Grape Vine Prairie and nearby Grape Vine Springs.

There is an historical marker at Dove Road and Highway 114 where Bonnie, Clyde and Henry Methvin conspired and shot two Texas state troopers on Easter Sunday, 1934.
